The FATE vision is to incorporate alternative forms of land-use into the landscape mosaic of rural Australia that combine production and conservation through the commercial use of native species.
The
FATE program is a broad range of research, development and marketing activities
that will help us find out how the commercial use of Australian native plants
and animals can improve the sustainability of Australian farms and rangelands.
The FATE website is regularly growing and changing. Check out FATE in Detail for projects such as kangaroo harvesting and marketing and the potential role of agri-forestry in landscape-change in Australia. FATE is also now managing a new Sustainable Wildlife Enterprises site to work towards a National Kangaroo Growers and Harvesters Association following a successful workshop in February 2008.
The September 2007 newsletter contains the latest news on other projects and there are now also more than 15 FATE presentations, papers and background documents available for download in pdf format.
